Ryan McMahon has been capturing audiences with his wit and charm long before he became the Fox in the folk-rock trio, Lion Bear Fox, which Ryan co-founded in 2012. Ryan released his 6th solo album, In Line for a Smile, in February 2019 to rave reviews.
Ryan’s life goal has always been to craft songs that speak to the human condition. Sardonic and blatantly honest, McMahon’s stories, both between and embedded in his songs, tell the truth about the world we live in and the experiences we all endure. “I didn’t know who I was until I found music. I found that the person I was becoming in my songs was far more confident and self-assured than I was myself. Writing songs was my way of relating to people on a broader scale than I could otherwise.”
Ryan’s music has awarded him multiple wins at the Vancouver Island Music Awards in 2012, where he won three awards – Male Vocalist, Record and Artist of the Year! He has shared the stage with a wide-variety of artists including Lisa Loeb and Buffy Ste. Marie, Nickelback and Mother Mother. His music writing has earned placements in the TV Series, “Californication” and more recently on “Chesapeake Shores”.
Canadian TV/Radio personality Terry David Mulligan may have summed up Ryan best: “The complete package. Singer. Songwriter. Performer. Troublemaker. Passionate human being. For me… priceless.”
